As IT Manager, Database, you will be a part of our Global DBA team responsible for providing architecture and engineering leadership. The MEIC Manager role is pivotal in establishing our Database As A Service model for cloud-based and on premise database deployments.
The MEIC based IT Manager works with a team of database architects, solution architects, engineers and business customers to bring industry best practices to database design, provisioning, automation, security, reliability and availability. This role will work with a Global infrastructure team to engineer solutions to complex business problems while leveraging open source and traditional databases.

A Day in the Life
- Provide management oversight of the Database architecture team and activities at MEIC.
- Provide technical leadership and practical experience across the various on premise and cloud-based database offerings.
- Provide architecture guidance in designing Database As A Service solutions for cloud-based database offerings.
- Provide architecture guidance in designing automated provisioning solutions for on premise and cloud-based database offerings using modern automation tools.
- Partner with various IT Infrastructure teams and engage Business partners to fulfill project needs while providing exceptional customer outcomes.
- Be well-versed in database monitoring technologies for on premise and cloud-based databases including OEM, Solarwinds, Toad, RDS Console and CloudWatch.
- Be well-versed in database security products and techniques including auditing, encryption, virtual private databases, row level security, etc.
- Be well-versed in enterprise backup tools and technologies including RMAN, Netbackup, Data Domain, etc.
- Work well with IT teams and Business Partners to identify and implement opportunities to improve database performance, reliability, scalability and availability.
- Provided demonstrated ability to mentor, guide and develop database team members.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 15+ years Oracle database experience as Database Architect, Engineer or Administrator, or advanced degree with a minimum of 7+ years relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with open source or cloud-based databases.
- Minimum of 4 years management or technical leadership experience.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 15+ years Oracle database experience as Database Architect, Engineer or Administrator, or advanced degree with a minimum of 7+ years relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years experience with open source or cloud-based databases.
- Minimum of 4 years management or technical leadership experience.
- 5+years of managerial experience, which includes goal settings and performance management.

Nice to Have
o Oracle Certification
o Recent experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB, Hadoop or Snowflake databases in addition to Oracle.
o Recent experience with database computing on cloud-based platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP or Oracle Cloud.
o Recent experience with IAM tools and automated security provisioning for on premise and cloud-based database technologies.
o Recent experience with automated database provisioning using Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.
o Recent experience with scripting languages like Perl, PowerShell, BASH, Puppet, etc.
o Provide experience with desktop client tools including MongoDB Database Tools, PGAdmin, DBeaver, HeidiSQL, Navicat, SQL Developer, SQL Studio, Toad, etc.
o
o Recent experience with modern compute and containerization platforms like Oracle ODA, VMWare, Redshift and KVM technologies.
o Recent experience with DevOps and software engineering technologies
o Recent experience with modern backup approaches for on premise and cloud-based databases.
o Significant database development or support experience with application development and implementation teams.
o Experience contributing to technical project implementations using Waterfall, Agile and Hybrid management approaches.
